La Mairena

La Mairena area offers residents a peaceful retreat away from the busy coast yet very much within a vibrant community that is just a ten minute drive to the beaches and amenities of Elviria. It is a 20 minute drive into Marbella town centre.

Not only does this tranquil area - perched 450 metres above sea level - have breath-taking views surrounded by natural cork oak and pine woods, but it also has its very own superstar resident.

Spanish singer Julio Iglesias chose the location for his expansive estate, often boasting of having ‘the best views in the Mediterranean’. He is not alone to appreciate those vistas, as they are one of the main attractions of life in La Mairena. The natural surroundings - just 5% of the mountain can be built on - with nature close to hand and beautiful trekking and hiking routes towards the village of Ojen are another, but it should not be thought the area is isolated.

The El Soto Golf club offers a social hub, as do two restaurants within the community, while two schools - the highly regarded German School and the bi-lingual Ecos College - provide first-class educational facilities. Tennis lovers are well catered for too at the 20,000m2 Hofsäss Tennis Academy & Club. Apart from tennis courts this beautifully located club features a gym and spa facilities, and has attracted names of the stature of Boris Becker, Stefan Edberg and Emilo Sanchez to its facilities.

Not only is La Mairena just a short trip from the amenities and beaches of Elviria - home to the renowned Nikki Beach club - it is also around ten minutes from La Cala de Mijas, with its modern NHS clinic, restaurants, bars, supermarkets and shops. Even closer is the La Cala Golf Resort, which features three championship golf courses and five-star leisure facilities.
